A quick way to graph a line from an equation is to use a plotting technique known as the intercept method Here you can work out the points where the line will intercept with the X, Y axis and a line is defined by these two points In the image, x + y = 14, if x = 0, then y = 14, and if y = 0, then x = 14, so we get the coordinates = (0 , 14) and ( 14 , 0) which is the line drawn in blue Here is a quick method when the slope and y-intercept are known: y = mx + b (where m = slope and b = y-int) When the Y-Intercept is not known, you may use the slope point method: y - y1 = m(x-x1) The expression y = -5 can be represented by a horizontal line drawn through the -5 on the axis and this line will not have a slope
