Direct Material Costs
Material cost is the volume of raw material required to process the component, multiplied by the cost of the material per unit volume in the required form.
M = m × C
where:
M = material cost.
m = mass of raw material required to process component.
C = cost of material per unit mass in the required form. (e.g. cost per tonne of the raw material)
